Dungeon Raid is a roguelike card game where you dive deeper into a dungeon trying to reach floor 30 to defeat the final boss. You have five cards in your hand and a random amount of cards set face down in front of you. Clicking on the cards flips them over revealing an enemy, item, trap, upgrade, gold, key or door. You need to find the key in order to use the door to exit.

There are 4 stats you have to manage in Dungeon Raid, stress, hunger, health and mana. Everytime you flip a card it costs 1 hunger. When your hunger reaches 0 you start taking health damage, which will lead to your stress meter increasing. When It reaches max you get a random debuff like not being able to read the numbers on the cards.

Your weapons have a damage count and an amount of usages. Each enemy card has an attack number and a defence number, so if you want to one shot the enemy the attack number of your weapon card better match the defence number of the enemy card. You can have armor yourself. The first armor card you find you get the whole number as your defence any you add on that number gets cut in half. The armor obviously defends you from attacks from enemy cards. Once you flip an enemy card you have one move to take them out otherwise they will have a chance to attack for the damage indicated on their card.

Some characters have spells they can use to attack. The Knight has divinite light that restores your HP based on your armor stat and deals the same damage to undead enemies. The vampire has bloody kiss which drains 1 HP from an enemy while adding 1 point to your hunger and if the enemy is killed then you restore an additional point to HP. Currently in the demo version of this game there are only two playable classes but 4 more are on the way.

The demo was incredibly fun and fast paced, you can even play the demo in browser if you go to the developer 4cats itch.io page on the game. I recommend you check it out if you’re a fan of roguelike or simple yet strategic card games.
