Snufkin: Melody of Moomin Valley lets you play as everyone’s favorite wanderer Snufkin, as he tries to save the valley and Moomintroll from the progress obsessed park keeper. I have been so excited for this game since its announcement. I am a huge fan of the Moomin franchise, and this game does not disappoint. It’s a platforming, stealth puzzle game with an art style that looks just like the Moomin comics if they were watercolor instead of black and white.

You do three different things in this game, solve puzzles with music, deliver items to Moominvalley residents and sneak around vandalizing parks. Snufkin’s music will have different effects on the creatures in the valley; he can use this to solve puzzles or to distract the police while he commits crimes. Some creatures are more particular than others, requiring a different instrument or a more inspired song. Inspiration is hidden in bushes around the valley all Snufkin has to do is run through them. As for the different instruments he will have to acquire them by completing side quests.

While running around Moomin valley Snufkin will come across signs and fenced off parks with police patrolling them. This is where the stealth mini game takes place. Hide from the police, remove the signs and break the statues. Once all the signs are gone the police will get confused as to why they are there and go, leaving nature to take back what was hers.

There are lots of characters and call backs to the franchise that would delight any Moomin fan. I can tell a lot of love went into this game and it was worth the wait.
