~Go to Guertena Art Gallery they said, It would be fun they said ~

The cult classic horror game has returned and it’s better than ever. Ib is a 2D puzzle adventure game set in an otherworldly art gallery. An art gallery is really an underutilized horror environment and Ib shows just how creepy and surreal it can be. Originally released in 2012, it was popularized during the youtube lets player RPG maker boom. With its sketchy storybook art style and its likable cast I can see why this game stuck with so many people.

This game is a remake and not a remaster so some things were changed. There is now a button to speak to whichever companion you currently have, mainly used for puzzle hints but can also be used when you’re feeling lonely. They also added a zoom in button for you to spot small items better. They took some puzzles away but improved upon a lot of already existing puzzles. They even added a dungeon that can be accessed during your second playthrough. After you beat the game you can go through the True Guertena exhibit where you can see all the artwork you looked at throughout the game. The pixel art and HUD have been greatly improved as well. It is true that you have to pay for a game that used to be free but with all the improvements done to it I think it’s worth it. Plus you can still download the original version for free if you wish, the plot doesn’t change.

This was my first time playing Ib and I honestly can see what all the hype is about. It’s a perfect first horror game since it is not too scary or gory. It’s also very cinematic for a 2D pixel game, many scenes in this game had me on the edge of my seat. After beating the remake ( a few times to get most of the endings) I went back to see the original and I must say that it improves upon an already existing masterpiece.
