Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach and Ruin DLC Review

FNAF Security Breach is the first FNAF game I actually played. I wanted to address that first before continuing this review. It has given me the courage to try out other entries in the series. I realize that this game has a very different vibe then the previous title but its Synthwave arcade aesthetic is definitely up my alley and I love this game, let me tell you why.

FNAF Security Breach is a pretty soft-core horror game, which is perfect for those looking to get into the genre but might be a little hesitant. I have to be honest FNAF scared me and I really didn’t wanna get screamed at but once I saw that Freddy was your friend in this one I put my big girl breaches on and bought the game. You play as this little orphan boy named Gregory who has been trapped overnight inside the Freddy Fazbear Mega Pizzaplex and must run around it until it opens back up at 6.

The Pizzaplex is an amazing environment to run around. I felt like a kid at the coolest chuck e cheese on the planet, I wanted to explore every nook and cranny of that place. Freddy gives you the wonderful ability to basically be invisible as you roam around the Pizzaplex. When you are controlling him from the inside you can walk almost anywhere as long as you have the right security card. Like your flashlight you do have to worry about him running out of battery but there are charging stations scattered throughout, so you have to be a little strategic. Your main objective is to essentially beat the “boss” of each area to progress time and get upgrades for your new bff Freddy Fazbear. The upgrades allow you to go to new areas of the Pizzaplex but you’re going to have to choose which upgrades you want to get unless you want to try for the secret ending. This game has multiple different endings depending on your choices in game. One of them has been made canon according to the Ruin DLC.

The Ruin DLC takes place after the events of security breach where you play as Cassie, a friend of Gregory who is trying to find him in the abandoned ruins of the Pizzaplex. The DLC is much more linear then the main game, basically railroading you to the end. You don’t have any resources to manage like you do in the main game. You have very little choice in this DLC. I say little because there are multiple different endings same as Security Breach but they are a little less obvious. As Cassie you are given a mask that lets you explore previously inaccessible areas in the Pizzaplex. In order to progress you have to solve the same puzzles in each area using the mask but if you keep the mask on for too long then an entity shows up and sends the animatronics to get you. The Animatronics in this DLC are a lot easier to fool than in the base game but I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they are pretty busted up. Overall the DLC is a great addition to an already great game, and it’s free so its hard to top that.

I made a Security Breach themed playlist it’s mostly synthwave covers of popular songs mixed in with some FNAF fan songs I actually like.

Also we have a complete playthrough of the Ruin DLC if you are so inclined
