And its releasing this year!
Amazon just announced that on October 25 of this year they will drop Season 1 of a live-action adaptation of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. This is not a direct adaption from the games it seem this is an original take on the first Yakuza video game. “In 1995 and 2005, spanning across two time-periods, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, an original crime-suspense-action series, follows the life, childhood friends, and repercussions of the decisions of Kazuma Kiryu, a fearsome and peerless Yakuza warrior with a strong sense of justice, duty, and humanity.”
Ryoma Takeuchi will play the Kazuma Kiryu. He is best know for his role as Shinnosuke Tomari from Kamen Rider Drive. The series director will be Masaharu Take who has directed film such as 100 Yen Love, Eden and The Gun. The show’s 6 episodes will be released episodically from October 25th to November 1st. Will see if this can match the masterpiece that is the Yakuza movie adaptation, Ryû ga gotoku: Gekijô-ban.
