For the Video Game Book Club this month we got another request, this time it was to read the Novelizations of The Force Unleashed video games. Sadly due to our schedules we were not able to play the games before finishing the novel so our review of the novel is by its merit alone.
I never thought I would enjoy this novel if I am honest with you. The idea of Starkiller just doesn’t appeal to me but honestly this is the best Star Wars book we read for the Book Club so far. The Audiobook was phenomenal and I very much enjoyed Starkiller and his crew. This made me want to play the game and even read the second games novelization!
As far as comparisons to the game I checked online and with friends and they say its actually pretty similar I’ll be it more grounded since the game seems to exaggerate a bit (well as grounded as a Star Wars story can be). I would recommend this novel if you are a Star Wars fan, if you do plan on playing the Force Unleashed some day maybe play that first then come back to this novel, since as a novelization it will spoil the game for you. I for one am looking forward to playing this game, stay tuned for the Force Unleashed retrospective/review when we finish the game.
