Taking a break from all the excitement
We got a slower one this week. Focusing on the aftermath of everything that happened with the settlement and with Ellie. In the behind the scenes look Neil Druckmann said that they got to take there time with the mourning period unlike the game, but to be honest they spent around the same time with it (minus the weird therapist and council scenes).

The town is rebuilding and just like in the game Ellie walks around Joel’s home, sniffs his shirts and takes his watch and gun. Unlike in the game Ellie has to get approval from the town council in order to go to Seattle to get revenge. This slows the episode down quite a bit. Tommy (since he wasn’t there when Joel died) seems more level headed in the show then his game counterpart. Tommy ran off to Seattle causing Maria to call upon Ellie to make sure her husband comes back safe. This time they got to play by the rules because Tommy isn’t sure they should go. They give a lot more importance to Jessie as he is now a member of the council and Seth who stands up for Ellies plan during the council scene.

Of course it doesn’t pass and of course Ellie is going to sneak out, but not before being bossed around by Dina who is going with her. Dina and Ellie are not a couple at this point like in the game so Dina motives are skeevy since we learned later that she has recently gotten back into a relationship with Jessie, whom she is now ditching to go on this journey with Ellie.

We also meet the Scars aka Seraphites in this episode (a little early if you ask me). We see the religious fanatics gets taken out by the wolves. The showrunners are trying very hard to make the W.L.F look like the big bad, most likely so they can turn the tables and try to make them appealing everyday people later. The Seraphites are also awful people in the game I wonder if they will resist the urge to slice up peoples bellies in the TV show.
