Sonic the Hedgehog and friends are now at Topgolf. So you know I had to go check it out. I booked a bay and selected the game on the touch screen. In the Sonic version of the Topgolf game you only have four turns. The gold balls are the fab four, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. The golf ball at Topgolf has a tracker on it so you can see on the screen where you hit it and if it got into any of the holes. Sonic and his friends act as the golf ball, it shows you where they landed. They run around and collect red rings (on the screen) which gives you points.
Out of all the different Topgolf games the Sonic game gives you the least amount of points and to be honest it’s the hardest to tell where the ball has landed. Once the ball stops moving the fab four get up and run around so fast I often couldn’t tell where It landed. I love the idea of using the characters in ball form as the golf balls. I just wish the screen was easier to read. I also wish that there were five turns instead of four. The other games had five turns instead of four and since this crossover with Topgolf is because of Sonic X Shadow Generations and the Sonic 3 movie I was surprised not to see Shadow as a character. They even played ads for Sonic X Shadow Generations on the screen.
I thought that this game was a limited time offer since it came out all the way in November, but it seems like it might be here to stay. I am unsure how long this promotion is going to last, it didn’t say a limited time like some of the other games. They even gave away a Sonic themed golf bag which is glorious and I wish I knew about it before writing this article so I could have entered. They had Sonic X Topgolf merchandise at some point but I didn’t see any in the store at my local Topgolf so this ad campaign might be on the way out. Now is the time to check it out before it’s too late!
