After finishing Dragon Age The Missing I realized how important the book Tevinter Nights would be to the upcoming Dragon Age The Veilguard game. So for the last two months we have been reading Dragon Age Tevinter Nights and after playing Veilguard I can say that this feels like required reading. Of course it is not necessary, you could enjoy Veilguard without it but I don’t like feeling left out so for me it feels required. Most companions come from this novel as well as almost all the new NPCs.
Its a collection of fifteen short stories between the events Dragon Age Inquisition and Dragon Age Veilguard. Some are more related to Inquisition others Veilguard but this book should be read after finishing Inquisition and its DLC Trespasser to avoid spoilers. As with all short story collections there are winners and losers. Some has juicy new lore while other are more throwbacks. I think these are good stories but they are a little dense and unfriendly to those not familiar to the world. Playing just one Dragon Age should be fine but I do recommend playing Inquisition (maybe a little of DA 2 because Da 2 is just so good).
