Grunn is a gardening simulation game with(out) a sinister twist. You are hired to garden in the Dutch countryside, you have to cut the grass, water flowers, pick up trash and get rid of mole hills. You have two days before the owner comes back to clean up the garden, but some of your tools are missing. In order to find them and complete your job you must explore the town and uncover its secrets.
Grunn is a mystery with multiple endings. There are many different ways to die in Grunn but the more you die the more you learn. Repeating the same two days slowly learning how to efficiently use your time. Around the map there are polaroids that will give you hints on important locations. Grunn has extremely addictive gameplay. Just gardening is relaxing and fun on its own but the game really shines with its detective work. Every loop I felt like I actually learned something that would help me on the next loop. I never felt like I wasted a loop. There is also more than one way to get certain items which is a nice touch.
It’s a pretty short game, only taking me around 5 hours to get the good ending. There are so many strange and interesting things to discover so even getting all the other endings is worth a try. It’s a spooky little game with a fantastic eerie atmosphere that I recommend for all seasons.
